The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose two-tenths of a cent today to $4.157, the third straight day of an upward trend.
The Orange County average price rose three-tenths of a cent to $4.143, the fifth increase in eight days.
The slight upward curves ended a downward trend that had included 29 reductions over 30 days in L.A. County, and a 26-day streak of decreases in
Orange County.
The rising pump prices follow a sharp increase in the Los Angeles wholesale price, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
“We’re not seeing an obvious reason for this wholesale increase,” Spring said.
The L.A. average price is four-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 13.6 cents higher than one year ago, but 16.3 cents less than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price rose three-tenths today. It is a half-cent more than one week ago and 15.6 cents higher than one year ago, but 16.7 cents less than one month ago.
