ST. MARTIN OF TOURS WINS 2ND IN ACADEMIC DECATHALON

ST. MARTIN OF < ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />TOURS SCHOOL WINS 2ND PLACE IN ACADEMIC DECATHLON

St. Martin of Tours School won Second Place out of one hundred schools in the Academic Junior High Decathlon, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.  Approximately 1000 students competed at the event, held at the Sports Arena.  St. Martin of Tours School won First Place in the Deanery consisting of some surrounding parish schools, Second Place in the Quiz Bowl, and Fifth Place in the Logic Bowl.  All students placed in their respective categories as follows:


Math – Tori Chayes – 2nd Place
Social Studies – Patrick Lancaster – 5th Place
Religion – Jamie Marvil – 5th Place
English – Christina Lee – 5th Place
Literature – Mia Alexander – 5th Place
Current Events – Paul Ayoub – 7th Place
Science – Jack Wegleitner – 6th Place
Fine Arts – Angela Funk – 6th Place

 

Faculty members who coached and guided the students included: Vice Principal and Head Coach Debbie Margulis, Anne Conte, Carole Gascou, Laura Kernan, Wilson Moreno, Jeanne Newman, Mary Newsom, Cady Ogden, Sheila Osborne, Eddie Ozawa, Karen Spurney, and Julia Wilson.
