Los Angeles police detectives searched today for whoever gunned down a teenage girl reported to be from Texas inside her car in a Marina del Rey parking lot.
The shooting at the Villa Marina Marketplace Mall on Maxella Avenue was reported at 7:53 p.m. Wednesday, said Officer Aareon Jefferson of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.
The girl was 17 years old and had Texas plates on her car, ABC7 reported, adding that she was from Houston and was visiting relatives in the area where her life came to an end.
The shooting took place outside Jerry’s Deli, and the girl drove across the parking lot to the Panda Express, where she died, ABC7 reported.
The victim was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, Jefferson said. Her name will be withheld pending family.
The suspect or suspects fled the scene, Jefferson said. A motive for the shooting was unknown.
