Elon Musk’s ‘Apocalypse-Proof’ Claim Challenged After Accident
Tesla’s highly touted creation, the bulky Cyber Truck, has been the target of much mockery on social media after Elon Musk’s claims that it was “apocalypse proof.” The jokes continued after a Cyber Truck was involved in an accident on Sunday night and crashed into the planter underneath the historic Beverly Hills Hotel sign.
Beverly Hills Police Department Public Information Officer Andrew Myers said, in an emailed statement, “On 03-03-24, at approximately 11:46 pm, officers responded to a two-vehicle collision that occurred in the 9600 block of Sunset Blvd. The report is still being generated, and there is no information at this time related to injuries and property damage.”
A report on the website Inside EVs stated that the impact ripped off the passenger side wheel on the front of the Cyber Truck. This does not bode well for those Cyber Truck owners who plan to outlast the apocalypse in the 7,000-pound vehicle.
A joke post on Twitter, the social media site renamed X by Elon Musk, who owns both Twitter and Tesla, went viral after the user, @jackdidthatt, claimed the valet at the Beverly Hills Hotel crashed the behemoth and asked Musk for a new Cyber Truck. Musk responded to the post to tout the Cyber Truck’s features without checking the veracity of the tweet.
Because of this, the Beverly Hills Hotel issued a statement about the accident. Brittany Williams, the Director of Communications for the Beverly Hills Hotel, confirmed that no valet employees or hotel staff were involved in the collision.
