The Hammer Museum Hosts New Exhibit, Ecstatic, From June 10 to August 27, 2023

The Exhibit Is Made Up of Two Different Installations That Highlight Each Discipline

By Dolores Quintana

From June 10 to August 27, 2023, the Hammer Contemporary Collection will unveil its latest exhibition, Ecstatic, offering a captivating exploration of sculpture and works on paper. This museum-wide presentation aims to highlight the significance of each medium in the museum’s extensive collection. Ecstatic features two distinct installations, shedding light on the role of drawing and sculpture within the realm of the museum’s acquisitions.

A diverse roster of acclaimed artists contributes to the exhibition, including Kelly Akashi, Eddie Aparicio, Kevin Beasley, Cecily Brown, Fiona Connor, Liz Craft, Luis Flores, Simone Leigh, Paul McCarthy, Shahryar Nashat, Senga Nengudi, Jim Shaw, and many more. Ecstatic builds upon the legacy of previous Hammer collection exhibitions, underscoring the pivotal position occupied by drawing and sculpture in Los Angeles and the broader contemporary art scene.
