More than 200 guests attended the evening which honored former Mayor of Los Angeles and philanthropist Richard J. Riordan.
Ambassador Glen Holden was the Master of Ceremonies and actress Rhonda Fleming Carlson presented the award to Mr. Riordan. The evening also included a four piece band with “Sam” from Rick’s Place and a silent auction filled with one-of-a-kind treasures.
Mary Hiestand was event chair and Carol Towne was event co-chair. Mary Davis, the League’s president, gave a warm and inspiring tribute to the auxiliary’s co-founder, Lois Linkletter, who recently passed away.
Over the past 25 years, The League for Children has raised $3 million in charitable funds to help benefit Children’s Bureau, a 107-year-old nonprofit leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect.
More than 28,000 children and their families are served each year throughout Southern California with programs that include foster care and adoption, parenting classes, family resource centers, mental health counseling, support groups and more.
