TV Ratings Announced, “America’s Got Talent” Tops Prime-time Programs

The Tuesday edition of “America’s Got Talent” was last week’s most-watched prime-time program, while CBS had each of the four other programs with more than 7 million viewers to be the most-watched network for the third consecutive week.

“America’s Got Talent” averaged 11.14 million viewers, according to live-plus-same-day figures released by Nielsen today. It was also the most-watched show among harder-to-reach viewers between the ages of 18-49, the group ABC, Fox and NBC target and advertisers covet.

The second season premiere of CBS’ “Under the Dome” was second among total viewers with 9.41 million, followed by reruns of “60 Minutes” (8.59 million), “NCIS” (8.13 million) and the 9:30 p.m. Monday rerun of “The Big Bang Theory” (7.03 million).

Two other reruns of “The Big Bang Theory” also made the week’s top 10. The  8 p.m. Thursday rerun was seventh, averaging 6.5 million viewers, and the 9 p.m. Monday rerun was 10th, averaging 6.37 million.

CBS averaged 4.92 million viewers for its prime-time programming between June 30 and Sunday. NBC was second, averaging 4.72 million, followed by ABC (3.7 million) and Fox (2.73 million).

NBC was first among viewers ages 18-49, averaging 1.39 million, The Spanish-language network Univision finishing second with 1.31 million, followed by CBS (1.19 million), Fox (1.1 million) and ABC (1.08 million).

The week’s most-watched prime-time cable program was the TNT crime drama “Rizzoli & Isles,” which averaged 5.43 million viewers, putting it 17th among the week’s prime-time broadcast and cable programs.

TNT was the week’s most-watched cable network for the second consecutive week, averaging 2.01 million viewers. It also had the week’s second most-watched prime-time cable program, the drama “Major Crimes”.

The week’s most-watched Spanish-language prime-time program was Wednesday episode of the Univision telenovela “Lo Que La Vida Me Robo,” which averaged 4.27 million viewers, for 34th among all prime-time broadcast programs.

As usual, Univision was the most-watched Spanish-language network, averaging 2.7 million viewers. Telemundo was second with 1.49 million, followed by UniMas (620,000), Estrella TV (150,000), MundoFox (80,000) and Azteca America (40,000).

The “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the most-watched network nightly newscast for the 251st consecutive week and 298th of the past 299, but its margin over ABC’s “World News with Diane Sawyer” was the smallest since the week of Sept. 24-28, 2012.

NBC’s newscast averaged 7.51 million viewers to 7.44 million for ABC’s, followed in third place by
the “CBS Evening News” anchored by Scott Pelley (5.75 million).

Averages for all three network newscasts did not include Friday, which was Independence Day.
