UCLA Bike Shop Returns as a Cyclist’s Paradise: Offering Expert Services and Cycling Resources

UCLA Bike Shop Reopens with a Range of Services and Community Events

After a temporary hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, the UCLA Bike Shop is back in full gear, catering to the vibrant community of two-wheeled enthusiasts, as reported by The UCLA Newsroom. Located on the north side of the John Wooden Center, the shop has transformed from a do-it-yourself operation to a comprehensive facility offering a wide range of services and products for cyclists.

Operated by UCLA Recreation, the newly reopened Bike Shop now boasts an extensive selection of bike parts and accessories available for purchase, catering to all types of riders. From tires and tubes for wheelchairs to services like affordable flat tire repairs and wheel-building for gravel bikes, cyclists can find the essentials they need to keep rolling smoothly.

In addition to its retail offerings, the Bike Shop’s knowledgeable staff is on hand to provide valuable guidance and support for the biking community. Whether it’s recommending safe bike routes to campus, offering tips for buying a new bike or providing expert instructions for DIY bike maintenance, the shop aims to be a hub of cycling expertise.

Nate Woiwode, the shop’s new supervisor, emphasized the shop’s commitment to encouraging cycling as a sustainable and enjoyable means of transportation. He expressed enthusiasm for promoting an alternative to driving, citing the benefits of sunshine, fresh air, and exercise that comes with cycling.

To ensure uninterrupted mobility for Bruins, the Bike Shop offers loaner bikes while repairs are underway, making sure students and staff can keep pedaling. Additionally, the shop plans to reintroduce do-it-yourself hours, allowing cyclists to hone their mechanical skills under expert guidance.

Beyond being a bike maintenance hub, the UCLA Bike Shop envisions itself as a welcoming community space for cyclists. Staff members are organizing events, including workshops featuring local cycling experts sharing their insights on navigating Los Angeles on two wheels. Recognizing the importance of safe and reliable bikes for campus commuting, Woiwode emphasized the shop’s role in fostering a cycling-friendly environment for Bruins. The UCLA Bike Shop is committed to providing essential resources and support to keep cyclists rolling smoothly on their journeys.
Cyclists can visit the UCLA Bike Shop year-round, Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. With its extensive offerings and dedicated team, the shop stands ready to enhance the biking experience for the UCLA community.
