LA County Dept. of Public Health confirms positive tests

Los Angeles County health officials have announced members UCLA’s football team tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health) Director Barbara Ferrer, eight members of the UCLA football team tested positive for COVID-19.
“At UCLA, we’ve seen a number of football players who returned to campus and tested positive. Given that this virus has reached every single part of the country and will be an un-welcomed visitor hitching a ride with students as they return to our campuses, we need to be very vigilant in how we reopen,” Ferrer said.
In a statement, UCLA athletics responded by saying “UCLA Athletics currently has no student-athletes in isolation.”
According to the University, currently, 167 people among the UCLA campus community have been confirmed by medical professionals to have COVID-19 and have reported their diagnoses to UCLA.
As of Wednesday, Public Health has identified 197,912 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County, and a total of 4,825 deaths. In Westwood, there have been 267 cases and five deaths among residents.
