Workers and Community Leaders Ready to Protest and Risk Arrest at Beverly Hills Hotel
Labor Union Unite Here Local 11 has announced, in a press release, a union rally on Wednesday, August 14, at the Cameo Beverly Hills, located at 1224 Beverwil Drive, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The press release said that the rally will include a “picket line and speaking program outside Cameo Beverly Hills, clergy blessing, community leaders also ready to risk arrest.”
The press release states, “Hundreds of cooks, dishwashers, and housekeepers will be joined by clergy, students, and community members for a special action and rally calling on Cameo Beverly Hills to sign a fair contract. Multiple community leaders and clergy have committed to risk arrest if need be.
At the problematic holdout hotel, workers alleged that they experienced multiple forms of wage theft at Remington-operated Cameo Beverly Hills in a pending complaint to the California Labor Commissioner and the Los Angeles Police Commission.
The escalated action comes after a year of strikes, and after 69 hotels have won historic wage increases. Unsettled properties also include the Westin Long Beach and Hilton Garden Inn El Segundo.”
