USC has hired a Yale health system administrator to become its top financial officer.
James M. Staten is the executive vice president and chief financial officer for the Yale New Haven Health System, which operates three hospitals in Connecticut, including one affiliated with Yale.
A USC statement said Staten will oversee USC’s budget, financial services and construction starting Jan. 19, replacing Robert Abeles, who is retiring after having served as USC’s chief financial officer since 2009.
USC is one of the county’s largest employer.
