A Venice woman woke up this morning to find a prowler standing at the foot of her bed but managed to flee her residence to call authorities, police said.
The “hot prowl” occurred at 3:10 a.m. inside a studio apartment at 28th Avenue and Speedway, said Lt. Joseph Sanchez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Station.
A woman awakened to find the man standing at the foot of her bed holding what she feared was a knife, Sanchez said.
“They had a short conversation and he went into the kitchen, which allowed her to run outside and to a neighbor’s apartment to call police,” he said.
The suspect was gone when police arrived, Sanchez said. But a search turned up a possible suspect and officers were working to confirm he was the man who had broken into the apartment, the lieutenant said.
