Former Mexican president Vicente Fox lashed out at President Donald Trump at a conference hosted by the Los Angeles World Affairs Council at the Intercontinental Hotel in Century City on Sep. 27.
The 55th Mexican president gave a speech entitled “A View from Mexico” about how Mexico views the United States today, and how he sees the future of relations between the US and Mexico, its third largest trading partner.
However, answering questions from the press at the event on a border wall that Trump has consistently said Mexico must pay for, Fox stated (and not for the first time), “We will not build that (bleeping) wall.”
Addressing Trump’s stand on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) – children brought to the U.S. from other countries including Mexico illegally, Fox said, “Those strong dreamers, those young extremely well-educated dreamers that have been here in the United States for almost all their life, that’s the greatest asset a nation can have.”
The former president also blasted Trump on his position on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), saying Trump’s viewpoint is setting the U.S. back economically.
