New Development at 1383 Midvale to Replace Eight Rent-Stabilized Units

During the Los Angeles City Planning Commission’s meeting on September 28, significant progress was made in the development of four infill projects located in Westwood, Mid-City, North Hollywood, and Tujunga.
As a part of its consent calendar, the Commission provided its approval for a proposal by Ali Sharifi, which entails the construction of a new seven-story apartment complex comprising 20 units. S.K. Architects are undertaking the architectural design for the project at 1383 Midvale.
The development site is situated at 1383 S. Midvale Avenue. The project, set to replace eight rent-stabilized units, is designed to offer a mix of one- and two-bedroom residences as reported by Urbanize Los Angeles.
The Commission’s decision also granted the applicant certain off-menu density bonuses, allowing for a larger structure than what is typically permitted under zoning regulations. In return, only six of the newly created apartments are earmarked for affordable housing.
