Yummy.com co-founder and CEO Barnaby Montgomery says the company will open its sixth Los Angeles fulfillment center in Century City later this year.
Yummy.com co-founder and CEO Barnaby Montgomery says the company will open its sixth Los Angeles
fulfillment center in Century City later this year.

Grocery shopping in Century City will become a little more convenient and less time-consuming as neighborhood grocery store yummy.com is continuing to grow its in-person and online services.

With both physical locations and subsequent delivery options in its respective areas, yummy.com has been widening its service range throughout the Westside as of recent. The grocery store’s newest facility, or fulfillment center, will be opening in Century City by the end of this year – the sixth location in Los Angeles. The exact location has not been announced; existing locations can be found in Hollywood, Santa Monica, Play Vista, Silver Lake, and Mid-Wilshire.
“The purpose and function of yummy.com is to offer a full assortment of groceries in all of the categories that one could find at a regular supermarket,” said Barnaby Montgomery, co-founder and CEO of yummy.com. “We provide fresh produce and fresh meat in a conveniently located store.”
After opening its first location in West Hollywood in 2002, the company has been growing, with sales increasing by 21 percent last year, according to the company. Some of the assisting factors include the lower operating costs as well as the customer service.
“Our locations average about 5,000 square feet, which is about ten percent of the size of a conventional supermarket,” Montgomery explained. “It’s unusual to find such a wide assortment of products in a store that size.”
Montgomery also said that yummy.com offers its products in two ways, with the option of self-shopping and walking in to the physical sites or ordering online.
“We can deliver in about 30 minutes,” Montgomery said. “This would likely take less time than a trip to the store.”
According to Montgomery, the mission of yummy.com – to offer a convenient means of purchasing products – initially stemmed from a personal desire.
“To have access to fresh food conveniently is sometimes improbable in an urban area like this, with big parking lots, big stores, traffic, and busy schedules,” Montgomery said. “Even if the market is close, it’s not always convenient.”
Montgomery explained that the delivery service was formed to solve the “practical, quality-of-life challenges” that often turn a simple process, like making dinner after work, into an unappealing task.
As far as the sourcing of the market’s products, yummy.com utilizes the same distributors as high-quality supermarkets like Gelson’s and Whole Foods.
“We carry a lot of natural and organic products,” Montgomery explained.
The new Century City location will help to serve a Westside area that yummy.com hasn’t been able to serve until now.
“When we open our Century City location, we’ll get to cover the rest of West L.A. that we don’t currently cover, including Westwood and much of Beverly Hills,” Montgomery said. “We are growing continuously and try to add locations that will support our existing areas. Our desire is to fill in the empty spaces.”
The neighborhood market first debuted in West Hollywood in 2002 and has been providing an array of products for its customers, from dairy products to deli meat to household supplies.
