A bank robbery suspect was shot by a Beverly Hills police officer today, about two blocks from the Bank of America branch that was robbed.
The suspect was shot about 4:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Luxe Hotel in the 300 block of North Rodeo Drive, Lt. Renato Moreno of the Beverly Hills Police Department said. He was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital.
The shooting was probably related to an earlier bank robbery in the 400 block of North Beverly Drive, Moreno said. No officer was injured.
ABC7 reported that police detained several people. It was believed there was at least one other robbery suspect involved. The station also reported that a tracking device was inside the bag of money the suspect escaped with, but it was not clear if the device had been retrieved.
