The Annenberg Space for Photography in Century City is among more than 20 Los Angeles museums taking part in "Museums Free-For-All" this Saturday, Jan. 31.
The Annenberg Space for Photography in Century City is among more than 20 Los Angeles museums taking part in “Museums Free-For-All” this Saturday, Jan. 31.

Did you know there are more than 20 museums dotted across Los Angeles, with many located on the Westside?

Have you driven past any of them and thought, “I really need to check that museum out?”

Well next Saturday, Jan. 31, is the perfect opportunity to tick a couple of them off without spending a cent on admission with the return of “Museums Free-For-All.”

Now in its tenth year, SoCal Museums is behind the promotion, which is a joint effort to present the arts and culture to the diverse and myriad communities in Southern California.

More than 20 museums – presenting art, cultural heritage, natural history, and science – will open their doors and invite visitors free of charge.
This offer is for general museum admission only and does not apply to specially ticketed exhibitions (regular parking fees apply – consult individual museum websites for hours and other visitor information).

For the first-time ever, “Museums Free-For-All” will partner with Metro, encouraging visitors to Go Metro to explore the participating museums, many of which are a short walk away from Metro Bus or Rail (Go Metro to more museum destinations at metro.net/discounts).

In Century City, Annenberg Space for Photography is presenting the exhibit “Sink or Swim,” which explores the human story of resilience, from adaptation for survival to ambitious infrastructure planning, in some of the richest and poorest of the world’s coastal communities.

Rather than showing pristine architectural photography, the photographs present viewers with various human responses to changes in their landscapes that could be intensified by sea level rise.

Annenberg Space for Photography is located at 2000 Avenue of the Stars, Century City. Visit annenbergphotospace.org for more information.
In Santa Monica, Santa Monica Museum of Art is exhibiting “Brian Weil, 1979-95: Being in the World” in its main gallery.

This exhibit is the first career retrospective for an exceptional photographer whose life’s work shed light on insular and otherwise invisible communities during the 1980s and 1990s. The exhibition features 60 photographs, prints, and videos, and was curated by Stamatina Gregory for the Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania.

SMMoA is located at 2525 Michigan Ave, G1, Santa Monica. Visit smmoa.org for more information.
