Registration opened today for the 17th Annual LA Cancer Challenge (LACC), which is comprised of a 5k run, a 10k run, and a Kids Can Cure Fun Run. All proceeds acquired from this annual Halloween-themed, family-friendly event are to go toward the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
LACC features a Fit Family Expo, Halloween Kid Zone with pumpkin decorating, live entertainment, and a Halloween Costume Parade and Contest. About 5,000 attendees of all ages are expected to participate.
What with its charitable nature, LACC has raised over five million dollars for pancreatic cancer research.
The Hirshberg Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for pancreatic cancer and improving early detection methods.
The event is set to take place Sun., Oct. 26, with the 10k run at 7:30 am, the 5k run at 9 am, and the Kids Can Cure Fun Run at 10:15 am.
Early registration fees — $35 (5k or 10k), $40 (5k and 10k), $20 (Kids Can Cure Fun Run) — will be offered through Oct. 3. Late registration fees — $40 (5k or 10k), $45 (5k and 10k), $20 (Kids Can Cure Fun Run — will be offered Oct. 4 to Oct. 24.
The event will take place at the Veteran Administration Grounds at 11301 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.
