Meet New York Times Bestselling author at the City of Beverly Hills’ One Book, One City meet-and-greet event with Daniel James Brown on Sunday, October 12 at 3 pm at Beverly Hills High School.

Community members, students, athletes, families, seniors and businesses are invited to attend the free event, which will include a talk with the author of “The Boys in the Boat”, Q&A, book signing and reception with light refreshments. Seating is limited so attendees must RSVP in advance.

“The inaugural One Book, One City campaign not only created a sense of community among readers of all ages, but also inspired a groundswell of support from a diverse mix of people. It encouraged teens, students, adults and seniors to engage in thoughtful, meaningful conversations about a specific book,” said Nancy Hunt-Coffey, Beverly Hills City Librarian. “Whether you’ve read the book or not, this is a great opportunity to hear from the author, ask questions and enjoy an interactive, fun discussion.”

Sponsored by the Beverly Hills Public Library, Human Relations Commission and Beverly Hills Unified School District, One Book, One City is a community reading program designed to bring Beverly Hills together, inspire appreciation for diversity and spark conversations among readers of all ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities.

“The Boys in the Boat” by Daniel James Brown is an inspiring true story of nine underdogs and their epic quest for gold at the 1936 Olympics. Ranked number one on the New York Times Bestseller list, the book demonstrates how a small, diverse group can accomplish great things when working together towards a common goal.

Books, audiobooks and e-books of “The Boys in the Boat” are available at the Beverly Hills Public Library. Special thanks to supporting sponsors: the Beverly Hills Public Library, Beverly Hills Human Relations Commission, Beverly Hills Unified School District, Wells Fargo and Jean Rosenblatt, Helen and Peter Bing, City National Bank, Dr. Eli and Rochelle Ginsburg, and the Friends of the Library.

The free event will be held in the Kenneth L. Peters Auditorium at Beverly Hills High School, located at 241 Moreno Drive. To RSVP for the October 12th event with Daniel James Brown, visit Eventbrite or call (310) 288-2220. For more information about Beverly Hills’ One Book, One City, visit www.beverlyhills.org/oboc.
