The popular LA. community activity Paint Nite will be held this week at Westfield Century City, with budding artists painting under the stars art the mall.
Paint Nites are touted by organizers as a fun social activity combing art, drinks, and great food.
Artist Christain Elder will instruct the class on Wednesday Oct. 22, which promises to be light-hearted and fun.
“I am very excited to be a part of the Paint Nite family,” Elder said. “I’m looking forward to spending time…and making new friends through painting and creative expression.”
Elder is a painter from New York who was mentored at an early age by actor/painter Billy Dee Williams. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design and Lorenzo de’ Medici in Florence, Italy.
Elder’s work has been shown in Europe, San Francisco and Los Angeles. He is also the former curator of the 2Roads ArtCon Exhibits at the Two Roads Theater in Studio City.
Paint Nite at Westfield Century City will take place on the Dining Terrace at 7 pm with painters being encouraged to arrive a little earlier to take advantage of the mall’s cocktail hour.
“Paint Nites are a really fun way to meet people and to be creative, all at the same time,” said former participant Julie Anne Morris. “I now have a really cool painting hanging on my wall that I did myself!”
Painters at Century City will be painting the popular piece “Japanese Cherry Blossom,” which is rated “easy” on Paint Nite’s website.
All materials for the evening are provided, with food and drinks also on hand.
“The event will be catered by the upscale and award-winning restaurant from China called Meizhou Dongpo and Obika Mozzerella Bar,” according to Westfield Century City. “Obika is a casual Italian restaurant concept based on best Mozzarellas di Bufula Campana together with traditional Italian recipes and high-quality Italian handmade products, prepared “in sight” and served by drawing inspiration from traditional sushi bars.”
