The Eli and Edith Broad Stage opened to sold-out crowds on September 20. The event marks the beginning of an era for the Westside. Finally there is a world-class performing arts center west of the 405.
Proceeds from the gala dinner will go towards funding the performing arts center. The attendees included Eli and Edythe Broad, Dustin and Lisa Hoffman, former L.A. District Attorney Gil Garcetti, Businessman Rob Rader, Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaraslovsky, author David Mamet, Renzo Zecchetto, acoustic consultant Oveal Walker, and the Madison Board Members.
The opening night concert was a performance by Barbara Cook, introduced by former Santa Monica College student Dustin Hoffman. Cook sang from a selection that included Rodgers and Hammerstein, Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Stephen Sondheim favorites.
