American Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro Gala

Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete, will be honored for their tireless and extraordinary work in the battle against Autism
Holly Robinson Peete, actress, author, activist, and her husband, author and former NFL star, Rodney Peete, will be honored for their tireless and extraordinary work in the battle against Autism at the American Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro West Coast Gala Dinner on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, 6:30 p.m. at Sephardic Temple Tifereth Israel in Los Angeles.

Through their HollyRod Foundation, and as a result of their family’s personal experience, Holly and Rodney have become leaders in the ongoing effort to better understand and to find a solution for autism. They are leaders in advocating for consistent and reliable education, outreach, support, access to therapies, and for improvements in the lives of children born with disabilities.

American Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro understands this mission and honors the Peetes for their determination, commitment and compassion. The 8th Annual Gala celebrates 30 years of global impact on the world of special needs.

This year’s co-chairs are Errol Fine and Marty Spiegel. The Gala Dinner is generously underwritten by Pat and Errol Fine with a gourmet dinner, dietary laws observed. The emcee for the evening is Josh Rubenstein of CBS2/KCAL9 and a silent auction of great travel and dining packages, health and beauty, children and gift items round out the evening’s festivities. In addition, Moriah Shalev, mother of four-year-old Ya’ara, a child from BIS’s early intervention program in Israel, will share her special story of love and triumph.

Beit Issie Shapiro (BIS) is the premier facility in Israel working in the field of disabilities. For over 30 years, BIS has been changing the lives of children, adults, their families and their community. BIS is a national, multi-purpose organization that develops and provides services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. BIS is a vigilant advocate for better legal provisions for people with special needs and has played a leading role in promoting their inclusion in society. BIS is raising the bench-mark in special education, treatment and social services globally.

Tickets to the dinner are $200 per person. Sephardic Temple Tifereth Israel is located at 10500 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, 90024. For tickets, table packages, tribute ads or information, contact (323) 938-9851 or laoffice@afobis.org.
