Hotel Aspen has transformed itself into a chic landing spot after completing a $1.5 million face lift in the summer of 2010. All of the property’s 45 guestrooms were stripped to the core and renovated with wood floors, contemporary furnishings, plush bedding, new window treatments and refurbished bathrooms. The poolside courtyard sports stylish, new Buddha beds and water features and the interior and exterior of the Aspen landmark share a fresh color palette.
The property’s trademark friendly service and intimate feel remain unchanged. The result is an Aspen accommodation that is stylish, yet still affordable.
The hotel’s signature service pampers guests and personalizes their experience amid a casual atmosphere, reminiscent of the old ski lodge days. The service goes beyond the expected, for example, offering more than the usual complimentary breakfast fare. Every morning throughout the year, guests will find a variety of tasty items such as waffles, quiche and traditional European breakfast fare. During the ski season, the hotel hosts a complimentary aprés ski each day, with drinks and dishes like homemade pizza, chili and tacos.
The new renovations boast a clean, contemporary feel with amenities such as double pillow-top mattresses, down comforters and IPOD docking stations. Poolside, guests can unwind at the fire pit or other conversation areas.
Free parking, complimentary airport transportation, ski storage lockers and free wireless internet service are a few more of the value-added services offered at the hotel. “Nothing costs extra here, as is the case in many luxurious properties,†says General Manager Jeff Bay.
Guests appreciate the friendly service and value offered by the property, which is demonstrated by the many guests who return year after year. The hotel boasts a 25 percent repeat guest rate.
“I had a terrific stay at your hotel and will return again soon. I spent four nights and loved every second. All of your staff are truly fabulous! The fireplace, the hot tub and having my dog with me made it perfect!†-Melissa Levine, Boulder, CO
Michael and Aaron Brown purchased Hotel Aspen and its sister property the Molly Gibson Lodge in 2004 and 2007 and quickly committed to upgrading both properties.
Bay, general manager of both the Hotel Aspen and Molly Gibson Lodge, returned to Aspen in December 2009 to oversee the operations of these Aspen landmark hotels. Bay brings 15 years of progressive experience in the four- and five-diamond luxury resort industry. Through his career, Bay has helped to enhance the reputations of such hotels as Beaver Creek Lodge in Beaver Creek, Colorado, the Ritz-Carlton in Aspen, Colorado and San Francisco, the Hotel Jerome in Aspen, the Vintage Resort and Conference Center in Winter Park, CO and most recently Elevation Hotel and Spa in Crested Butte, Colo.
