Sojourn Services For Battered Women And Their Children will begin their Volunteer Training on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. The training is held twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30pm to 9:30pm and runs through November. This training is mandatory for anyone who would like to volunteer at Sojourn.
Since 1977, Sojourn has been a sanctuary for women and children, providing safety and shelter to victims of domestic violence. Sojourn works to empower women and children to regain their dignity and make choices to stop the cycle of violence in families. Sojourn is a project of OPCC’s network of shelters and services.
Upon completion of the training volunteers staff the 24 hour hotline, facilitate support groups for women, work in the children’s program and provide administrative assistance.
