The Academy of Business Leadership (ABL) is a dynamic and innovative non-profit organization that provides business and leadership education to Southern California youth. They offer students the opportunity to build bridges of understanding among different youth communities, and help make a difference around the world.

The exquisite Russian Restaurant, Mari Vanna on Melrose Place, was the perfect venue to celebrate and raise funds for their cause.

Guests were treated to fabulous Russian fare, including caviar, salmon, and blinis, and signature vodka, infused with soleniya. Thousands were raised to support ABL’s goal to reach 7,000 students through their workshops, and Summer Business Leadership Institute.

CEO and Master of Ceremonies Anna Ouroumian introduced guest speaker, Lubov Azria, CEO of BCBG, and Mark Datzell, V.P. Capital Research Co.

I always believe that the host or hostess sets the tone for any event. If it is warm and inviting, it is because the host of the party makes everyone feel welcome. That is particularly true when PR Dynamo Doris Bergman throws her annual Valentine Oscar Style Lounge & Party. This year, it was held at the Hollywood Hotspot, Fig & Olive on Melrose Place, which features gourmet cuisine from the French & Italian Riviera.

The event was hosted by Begley’s & Bill’s 100% All Natural Sodas, and presented by Whitening Lightning & Nature’s Flavors. They offered an incredible array of fashions for him and her, optimum in body and hair care, chic chapeaus, stunning jewelry and, of course, delectable eats!

Among the celebs participating in the event, that benefited Wednesday’s Child – who assists trying to place children in foster homes in L.A. County, were such stars as Former Oscar nominee Angela Bassett and hubby Courtney B. Vance; Former Oscar winner, Louis Gossett Jr., Cheech & Chong, Carla and Lou Ferrigno, gorgeous Tia Carrere, and Oscar nominee Robin Mathews (Makeup artist for Dallas Buyer’s Club).

Among the myriad of fabulous items offered were Handmade Hearts by Hillel, Ooh La Bra, PK’s Chocolates, Baron Hats, and La Curcio Skin Care Collection.

This event reached far beyond the Hollywood glitz and raised much-needed funds to support Wednesday’s Child.

Brava to Bergman and her good hearted guests, who donated their time, energy and love to this most worthy cause. You can find out more about this organization by viewing their weekly segment airing on KTTV Fox 11 News, L.A., with Anchor Christine Devine.
