The 4th Annual Alternative Energy and Transportation Expo (AltCar) returns this year as the largest and most cohesive Alternative Energy/Transportation Expo in Southern California, offering a number of unprecedented presentations and cutting-edge vehicles for consumers to drive. The Expo will take place on October 2 and 3, 2009 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, and is presented by the City of Santa Monica. The show continues to offer FREE admission, while featuring top speakers and noted exhibitors (such as Electrorides, Skeuter, Studio Manufacturing, AFV Fleet Services, abs batteries, and Electric Blue Motors) within the green and transportation industries.
AltCar will showcase more than 100 alt-fuel and ultra-efficient vehicles including zero-emission electric cars, hybrids, Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles rated in excess of 100 miles per gallon, and those running on hydrogen fuel cells, natural gas, propane, biodiesel and ethanol. Scooters, Segways, electric motorcycles, bicycles and more will also be on hand. Low-speed and freeway-capable vehicles will be available for public “ride-and-drives†and for immediate purchase.
AltCar Expo is known for its uncommon mix of vehicles by major auto manufacturers and smaller companies. Its seminar speakers, addressing the latest global transportation and energy trends, will include industry executives, grass roots advocates and nationally recognized experts in public policy, mass transit, sustainability, engineering and automotive technology. Attendees will learn when they can expect to purchase the hottest eco-friendly vehicles in development and about mass transit options, charging infrastructure, new battery technologies, maximizing gas mileage and other issues.
Central to the expo’s purpose is to give consumers the chance to test drive alt-fuel cars, many of which will be for sale on site, and find out about earning tax credits by going green. Also, AltCar will continue it’s tradition of advocating alternative transportation options. They will present new ways to lessen ones personal impact on the planet with exhibitors and panels that address sustainability issues, business practices, mass transit, cycling and more.
“This is the most exciting time in the history of transportation and energy,†said Rick Sikes, City of Santa Monica Fleet Superintendent and co-founder of the AltCar Expo. “The recent convergence of international events and public awareness is finally providing the financial investment, labor pool and motivation to radically change the way we use energy and transportation.â€
AltCar brings industry leaders and the most comprehensive collection of available transportation alternatives together in one place. There is no other event like it. People can learn what works best for their lifestyle and level of commitment and take immediate action to reduce their transportation footprint.”
New activities at the event include a “city of the future†display, greatly expanded alternative energy and cyclists sections, and information for consumers on stimulus package money. Also, a Technology Debate will take place, featuring proponents of various alt-fuel technologies.
