Auditions Set for the 2011 Los Angeles Workshop

Students interested in attending School of American Ballet’s Los Angeles Workshop for Young Dancers (10-11) must attend an auditon in San Diego on Janaury 15.

They will be held at the City Ballet School, 941 Garnet Avenue (alley entrance), San Diego.

Schedule is as follows:

1:30-2:30 p.m., 10 year olds
2:30-3:30 p.m., 11 year olds
3:30-5 p.m., 12-14 year olds

Preregistration is strongly recommeneded (but not required). Students who pre-register will have the optioon top pre-pay the audition fee online at a discounetd rate. The fee is $25 when pre-paid and $35 when paid at the door. Please visit www.sab.org to register.

The LA Workshop classes will be held Monday through Friday with students placed in three different levels based on age and advancement. All levels will take two classes per day. The tuition fee is $1,000. Housing and transportation will not be provided. The program is designed for local-area students or for those who are able to arrange temporary accommodations within commuting distance of Santa Monica.

To be eligible for SAB’s LA Workshop, students must be no younger than 10 and no older than 14 years old as of July 31, 2011. At the time of the January 2011 auditions, students 10 or younger are expected to have completed a minimum of 1-1/2 years of training. Eleven year olds should have completed a minimum of two years of training (including introductory pointe work), and 12 to 14 year olds should be training at the intermediate level.
