Glassman is creating a new dance based on the Beach House site, drawing on anecdotes about Marion Davies parties with surfers and the Marx Brothers (entitled “Timeless: Marxist Dances at the Beach”), and will premiere this work May 15-16.
In this panel, choreographers will discuss the impulse to make dances for non-theatrical settings, challenges inherent in “dancing outside of the box”, and highlights from their careers. Attendees will get a glimpse into an artists creative process, learn about the range of work thats been made for unusual sites, and get a deeper understanding of current issues in site-specific dance.

Parking: There is an hourly parking charge at the park and pay machines available in three areas of the ACBH parking lot. Fees change from the shoulder season through summer; please check the website for details. The facility is also easily accessible by foot or bike from the beach bike path, although the beach closes at sunset. There is ample bike parking at racks throughout the site – remember to bring your own lock.
