Beverly Hills Bar Association Announces a New President

New Beverly Hills Bar Barrister President Leshner
On Tuesday September 28, 2010 at the Annual Installation & Awards Dinner Leigh S. Leshner, Esq. will be installed as the Beverly Hills Bar Association Barristers President.

The Beverly Hills Bar Association (BHBA), founded in 1931, is the sixth largest bar association in California and currently includes nearly 4,000 members who practice in all areas of the law.

A solo practitioner based in Sherman Oaks, Leshner’s practice is primarily transactional in nature and focuses on entertainment and business law. She brings hands on business and entertainment experience to her practice where she represents producers, writers, directors, actors, production companies and business owners.

An entrepreneur at heart, Leshner started her first business venture at the age of eleven. While in high school, she produced a line of clothing that sold throughout the United States. These early life experiences allowed Leshner to combine her creativity with her love of business and develop skills that she continues to employ in her current endeavors — helping her clients.

Prior to her legal career, Leshner was an independent producer. She has had extensive first hand experience in the entertainment industry; experience that she uses in her entertainment and business law practice.

Leshner founded Venture Entertainment Group, Inc., a film, television and video production company in January of 1991. Through her company, she developed, produced, marketed and distributed award winning sell-through programming and infomercials. She has also worked as a research analyst in the entertainment division at Arthur Andersen & Company as well as at a television distribution company, World International Network.

An avid vintage jewelry collector since her preteens, Leshner has written six books on vintage jewelry and has been a jewelry and antique dealer for more than 20 years, provides appraisal services and sells her jewelry and antiques online at www.tias.com/stores/memories.

She is the chairperson of the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Vintage Bouquet and a member of the Entertainment Executive Committee, a volunteer at Bet Tzedek Legal Services working in the Holocaust reparations area and a long-standing member of Women In Film. Leshner organized entertainment programs for the Beverly Hills Bar Association, WIF and served on the syllabus committee for the USC Institute on Entertainment Law and Business since 2007. She was awarded the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Barrister Lawrence J. Blake Award, in September 2006.

Leshner received her law degree from Southwestern University School of Law’s 2 year accelerated SCALE program in 2003. Leshner completed her undergraduate studies at Boston University in the College of Communication. She graduated with a B.S. in Broadcasting and Film, with a minor in Marketing. She continued her academic careers at the University of California at Los Angeles, earning her Master of Fine Arts Degree in the Independent Film and Television Producers Program.
