An open invitation is being extended to join the City of Beverly Hills on Tuesday, September 6 at 1 p.m. for the Grand Opening of the first Beverly Hills Community Dog Park located at 344 Foothill Road, Beverly Hills. Gates open at 12:45 p.m.; Beverly Hills Mayor and City Council as well as Recreation and Parks Commission members will conduct the dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. The dog park will remain open until 8 p.m. for guests to enjoy and dogs to relish in the recreational benefits of the park.

“Our residents have been asking for a dog park, noting that dogs bring people together. Not only will a dog park give our pets a place to run free and socialize, but it will become a place for us to get to know our neighbors better. We need it as much as they do,” says Mayor John Mirisch.

Guests can park at City Hall in the parking structure next to the Beverly Hills Public Library on Rexford Drive and take the dog-friendly shuttle leaving from the front of the Library on Rexford Drive at 12:30 p.m. Also, the dog park is approximately a five-minute walk from the parking structure, so guests may consider walking as well.

For the Grand Opening, all guests are welcome to use the park with or without a permit, but all dogs must remain on their leash during the ceremony. Afterwards, all dogs are allowed to enjoy the facilities and the park will remain open until 8 p.m. Beginning the following day, on September 7, dogs must have a Beverly Hills permit tag to enter the park. To register for a free permit tag, visit beverlyhills.org/dogpark.

The dog park is open to all residents and their guests, those employed in Beverly Hills and hotel guests.

“Thanks to some very passionate people in the community, a successful donation campaign has been established to help build a dog park that is representative of the Beverly Hills brand,” organizers said. If you would like to donate to the Beverly Hills dog park, you can do so by visiting beverlyhills.org/dogpark.
