On Sunday, June 13, 2010 Brig Van Osten, season 3 winner of Bravo’s “Shear Genius†will host the 3rd Annual Take Steps for Crohn’s and Colitis Walk in Griffith Park. This year more than 800 patients, their family and friends as well as members of the medical community will come together to raise more than $150,000 towards finding a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis (collectively known as IBD).
More than 1.5 million children and adults are affected by IBD which manifests itself through extremely painful, debilitating and potentially fatal symptoms. There is no cure for Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.
Take Steps is the nation’s largest event to raise money and awareness for debilitating digestive diseases. Held in over 80 communities throughout the United States, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation will engage more than 300,000 people and raise over 10 million dollars to fund critical research to find cures for Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis. This year CCFA will hold its 3rd Annual Walk in Los Angeles in June of 2010. Participants will enjoy a 2 mile walk as well as a celebration with live entertainment and a children’s activity zone complete with carousel rides.
