One of LA’s Oldest Thai Restaurants Reopens on Sawtelle

March 9, 2022 – Tuk Tuk Thai has reopened in its new Sawtelle location as reported by Eater Los Angeles. The new location for this westside fave is at the space formerly occupied by Cafe Dahab right next to Cinefile Video and just around the corner from the Nuart Theatre on the northern edge of Sawtelle Japantown. After 23 years on Pico Boulevard, Tuk Tuk has moved with chef Amanda Kuntee and sister/partner Katy Noochlaor, who also run Same Same Thai Restaurant in Silver Lake. Full article here.

Hurry Curry Reopens in Santa Monica

May 11, 2022 – Westside favorite Hurry Curry has opened officially in Santa Monica at 2901 Ocean Park Blvd Ste. 125. After losing their lease at their former space in Sawtelle Japantown, they closed in February of 2021, and after a year of waiting and the announcement that the restaurant would be open in their new Ocean Park storefront in March, Hurry Curry has finally opened their doors at the new location on May 3. Alice Water’s and David Tanis’ LULU Now Open for Dinner Hours in Westwood

June 15, 2022 – Alice Waters’s and David Tanis’ LULU at the Hammer Museum has finally launched dinner service after opening last fall. Chef Dan Tanis, formerly one of the head chefs at Waters’ Chez Panisse in Berkeley, heads up the sustainable kitchen at LULU. The lunch service at the restaurant remains unchanged and runs from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday each week. Bar service is available Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Full article here.

Famous NYC Restaurant Opening Century City Location

December 22, 2022 – Chef Dani Garcia is bringing Casa Dani, a famous New York City restaurant staple, to the Westfield Century City Mall next year as reported by What Now Los Angeles. The Westfield Mall is located at 10250 Santa Monica Boulevard and the food court area is on the third floor of the mall, near the AMC Century 14 theatres. Casa Dani will replace the now-closed Rocksugar. Full article here.
