Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA (CAP UCLA) presents a rare Royce Hall tour stop from David Sanborn in a crowd-pleasing full-band performance Saturday, Oct. 10 at 8 pm Tickets ($29-$69) are available now via cap.ucla.edu, Ticketmaster and the UCLA Central Ticket office at 310.825.2101.
In his three-and-a-half decade career, saxophonist David Sanborn has released 24 albums, won six Grammy Awards, and has toured the world relentlessly. His new album – “Time and the River” – is his first collaboration in the studio with producer and bass player Marcus Miller in more than 15 years. The new record is a modern groove-oriented album, with funky beats and beautiful ballads that showcase the emotional side of Sanborn’s legendary saxophone skills. Sanborn is joined by Nicky Moroch on guitar, Andre Berry on bass, Ricky Peterson on keys and Chris Coleman on drums.
Having inspired countless fellow musicians, Sanborn has worked in many genres which typically blend instrumental pop, R&B and lately, more and more traditional jazz.
General tickets are available at cap.ucla.edu, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 310.825.2101 or in person at the UCLA Central Ticket Office located in the southwest corner of the James West Alumni Center. Student rush tickets, subject to availability, are offered at $15 one hour before show time to all students with valid ID. UCLA faculty and staff tickets are $25 while supplies last.
