Expect plenty of feel good energy at the Hollywood Bowl on its opening night this Saturday, June 20 with a full set by rock band Journey.

With hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Any Way You Want It,” the band will make its first-ever performance with an orchestra thanks to the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, led by Principal Conductor Thomas Wilkins.

The concert, which begins at 8 pm, will also feature performances by the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA). The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks show.

Journey – original members Neal Schon (guitars, backing vocals) and Ross Valory (bass, backing vocals); long-term members Jonathan Cain (keyboards, backing vocals) and Deen Castronovo (drums, percussion, backing vocals); and lead singer, Arnel Pineda – has had three highly successful appearances at the Bowl since 2006.

Since the group’s formation in 1973, Journey has earned 19 Top 40 singles and 25 Gold and Platinum albums. With easily recognizable hits such as “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Open Arms,” and “Faithfully,” the band’s opening night performance promises to be an exciting kick-off to the summer of 2015.

Journey sees its music become more popular as the years go on.

In a career spanning four decades, Journey is blazing hotter than ever and has reached heights that few artists can reach these days, with its Greatest Hits album earning more than $15 million in sales.

Through the years, Journey has kept the music alive with airplay and a touring schedule most bands can’t, or won’t, match. And the TV and film exposure of “Don’t Stop Believin” has helped to make the song the number digital catalog song in history, with track sales of 6.4 million in the U.S. For more information, visit www.journeymusic.com.

Proceeds from the evening benefit the LA Phil and its education and community programs, which reach more than 120,000 children, teachers, and adults every year.

The Hollywood Bowl is located at 2301 N. Highland Avenue in Hollywood.

Patron packages for this annual benefit concert include a VIP pre-concert reception at 5 pm, followed by a gourmet dinner prepared by Patina and served in guest boxes prior to the concert.
