More than 1.5 million new cases of cancer diagnosed in 2010, chances are you or someone you love has been affected by this disease. Today, there are many ways to become involved in the fight against cancer – everything from marathons to private donations – but did you ever think you could eat your way to a cancer-free tomorrow? John Wayne Cancer Institute’s Partners in Progress has put together a variety of mouth-watering, delectable eats and treats for the 2nd Annual Food Truck Round Up for Cancer Research from 1 to 5 p.m. on July 17 at the corner of 14th Street and Santa Monica Boulevard.
“The Food Truck Round Up for Cancer Research is a fantastic and fun event for the entire family,†said Michael Wayne, Chairman of the John Wayne Cancer Institute Board of Advisors and grandson of the legendary actor John Wayne. “Our dynamic support group, Partners in Progress, has created a terrific way for the community to get involved and raise funds for cancer research.â€
The participating food trucks are Nom Nom, Don Chow Tacos, The Sweets Truck, Flying Pig, Barbie’s Q, Dogtown Dogs, Dumpling Station, Bera’s Custom Cheesesteaks, Frysmith, The Buttermilk Truck and Ice Ice Shavie. “Foodies,†supporters in the fight against cancer or anyone simply looking for an entertaining Sunday afternoon are invited to attend the event at 1401 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90404.
In addition to the afternoon’s festivities, attendees will have the opportunity to be major players in the fight against cancer simply by making a donation to the John Wayne Cancer Institute. Not only will they help support John Wayne Cancer Institute in its fight to eliminate patient suffering worldwide, they will also receive a night of laughter for their generosity. The World Famous Laugh Factory in Hollywood, one of the nation’s premier comedy clubs, has teamed up with the Partners in Progress to help raise funds for cancer research. As a token of gratitude, the World Famous Laugh Factory will provide two Complimentary Admission Tickets* to anyone who makes a donation to the John Wayne Cancer Institute while at the event.
Proceeds from the 2nd Annual Food Truck Round Up will be donated to John Wayne Cancer Institute.
