The first Oktoberfest in Munich started in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Today, the Oktoberfest in Munich is the largest festival in the world, with an international flavor characteristic of the 20th century. 2010 marks the 200th anniversary of this time honored tradition.
