Free Personal Finance Course for Teens

Want your teen bound for college with a solid foundation in finance for life? At no cost, Harvard-educated Finance Professor Joetta Forsyth is seeking high school students or recent high school graduates for an exceptional 7-week educational experience, to begin June 29.

Course topics include:

– Understanding risk and its consequences

– Developing a cash budget and understanding the consequences of spending money

– Understanding loans and debt

– The importance of a good credit rating

– Investing wisely

– Planning for:

• Home ownership

• Future dependents’ college funding

• Retirement

– Insurance and controlling risk

– Street smarts: Financial advisor/broker conflicts of interest

– Financial scams

– Identity theft and maintaining a clean record on the Internet and for resume purposes

Dr. Joetta Forsyth has a Ph.D. in Business Economics from the Harvard Business School and Department of Economics, and has taught finance at the University of Michigan, the University of Southern California, and Pepperdine University. She is the founder of Financial Wisdom Preparatory Institute and her mission is to impart the wisdom to teenagers that a savvy parent highly trained in finance would teach their own child in preparation for life.
