A capacity field of 18,000 runners from 14 through 83 years old has registered for Sunday’s 10th annual Disneyland Half Marathon.
The race reached its capacity in 29 hours, a race official said. Registration has reached capacity each year.
The 13.1-mile course for what organizers have dubbed “The Happiest Race on Earth” takes runners from Disney California Adventure Park to Disneyland Park, then onto the streets of Anaheim, winding through Angel Stadium. The flat, loop course concludes at the Disneyland Hotel.
The field is expected to include 436 runners who have run all nine previous Disneyland Half Marathons.
There will be Disney characters and entertainment along the course.
The following street closures will in effect today:
— 12:01-8 a.m., Disneyland Drive between Ball Road and Paradise Way;
— 12:01-10:15 a.m., Magic Way between Walnut Street and Disneyland Drive (access to the Disneyland Hotel only);
— 5-10:30 a.m., Disneyland Drive between Paradise Way and Katella Avenue;
— 5:15-8 a.m., Ball Road eastbound from Disneyland Drive to Anaheim Boulevard;
— 5:15-8:30 a.m., Ball Road between Lewis Street and State College Boulevard;
— 5:15-10 a.m., Harbor Boulevard southbound between Disney Way and East Shuttle Area;
— 5:15-8:15 a.m., Anaheim Boulevard between Ball Road and Cerritos Avenue;
— 5:15-8:15 a.m., Cerritos Avenue between Anaheim Boulevard and Lewis Street;
— 5:15-8:15 a.m., Lewis Street between Cerritos Avenue and Ball Road;
— 5:15-8:30 a.m., State College Boulevard between Ball Road and Cerritos Avenue;
— 5:15-8:40 a.m., Cerritos Avenue between State College Boulevard and Douglass Road;
— 5:15-8:45 a.m., Douglass Road between Cerritos Avenue and Katella Avenue;
— 5:15-9:30 a.m., Gene Autry Way from Angel Stadium to Santa Cruz Street;
— 5:15-9:40 a.m., Santa Cruz Street and Stanford Court between Gene Autry Drive and Anaheim Way;
— 5:15-10 a.m., South Anaheim Way between Katella Avenue and Disney Way; and
— 5:15-10 a.m., Disney Way westbound from Anaheim Boulevard to Harbor Boulevard.
