You’ve made the New Year’s resolution to shape up and be the best you in 2015. Now what?

Try jump-starting your plan with some instant results that rid your body of toxins and melt problem areas while also boosting your metabolism.

For the past few months, KO’AN Center in Santa Monica has been offering a new infrared body wrap treatment that offers detoxification as well as instant toning and weight loss.

According to KO’AN medical esthetician and body specialist Cynthia Crawford, not only does this two-hour treatment help clients get “red carpet-ready” just hours before their big event, but it jump starts the metabolism to help the New Years resolution target the real problem areas.

The A-list treatment begins with a complete physical exfoliation that’s followed by a body specialist applying Sudatonic creams from France that help tone, tighten, and detoxify the skin.

“We may also do a spa treatment with cellulite cream before we wrap the client in a mylar envelopment and then an infrared heat therapy blanket,” Crawford said.

Then just close your eyes and relax.

Crawford said the client is in this blanket for about 45 minutes to 50 minutes.

“It’s actually very comfortable and it’s not too hot,” she said. “The Mylar tends to deflect about 80 percent of the heat, and during that time, we do a mini-facial on them, which can be anything from an oxygen infusion or a mask or possibly some microcurrent.”

After the heat blanket part of the treatment, the client is wiped down with hot cloths before moving onto body buffering.

“It’s an electronic buffer, so we buff the skin and we work on the cellulite areas and then after that, we finish with a full-body massage,” Crawford said.

“It’s no secret that this is a celeb favorite that can be incorporated into anyone’s life. If you have an important event looming or perhaps an upcoming vacation, it’s the perfect gift to yourself that will have friends asking, “What did you do? You look wonderful.”

“It’s an amazing treatment and clients feel like they’re glowing from head-to-toe afterward,” Crawford said. “They definitely lose some water weight the first time and they will notice a breakdown of essential fatty acids from the cream that creates a barrier on the skin.”

She said this treatment focuses on more than being just skin deep.

“It’s a wonderful way to detoxify and boost the immune system and it also helps with the deep heating of the muscles and joints,” she said. “If you’re working out a lot or have some issues with joint pain then this treatment provides both healing and some pain relief.”

Another added benefit is that it’s better than a quick trip to the gym. The treatment burns 1,500 to 2,000 calories each session.

Crawford said clients could drop one to two dress sizes after just one treatment.

“It’s not a permanent solution, but it really helps when they’re actually eating well and doing this in conjunction with exercise,” she said. “It helps to speed up the metabolism, so that clients can burn more calories.”

Crawford said the treatment could be done the day of an event to boost the glow factor that evening although the end result is lasting.

Resolve to get your glow on this year.
