Kei Nishikori of Japan defeated American Jack Sock, 4-6, 6-3, 10-7, on Sunday on the the final day of the “Maria Sharapova & Friends” two-day exhibition at the UCLA Tennis Center.
A Champions tiebreaker — where the winner is the first player to reach 10 points and leads by at least two — was played in lieu of a third set.
Nishikori is eighth on the Association of Tennis Professionals singles rankings. Sock is 26th, second among Americans.
Sloane Stephens, 30th on the Women’s Tennis Association singles rankings, defeated fellow American Shelby Rogers, 6-2, in an earlier one-set match.
Nishikori and Sharapova led Sock and England’s Laura Robson, 4-3, in a mixed doubles match halted by rain.
