Kids Have a Chance to Join SparKIDS on April 24th

The SparKIDS are returning for their 14th season as the high-energy kids dance group that brings excitement to STAPLES Center during Sparks games. The 2010 squad will once again feature extremely talented dancers who range in age from 7-14 years old. Tryouts are open to the public and all aspiring dancers of all different backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

Westfield Culver City will host the three-hour long try-outs on Level One near Best Buy. Registration will begin at 11:30am and applicants must be at least 7 years of age by May 15, 2010. Dancers will be taught a routine at the audition and will be judged on dance ability, personality and attitude.

The audition routine will be taught by Mookie Washington, a talented member of BBoys of SickStep Crew, Stylistic Kings & formally of LA Breakers. The SparKIDS will be once again be led by Dani Clement. Dani was previously a dancer for the Golden State Warriors and helped direct Culture Shock Oakland, and the Warriors Jr. Jamm Squad. Judges will include prominent individuals from the dance and basketball world.

Dancers should wear comfortable clothing and appropriate dance footwear. The Sparks are looking for well-rounded dancers, with a background in hip-hop, jazz or tumbling. The cost to try-out is $15 and applicants are encouraged to register in advance online by visiting www.LASparks.com and clicking on SparKIDS under Fan Zone. Registration on the day of the audition will be accepted if space allows. The Sparks regular season runs from mid-May through end of August.
