Kumon Educator Awarded Prize by Pavley

Award Winning Educator Clara Lu Tripathi
California State Senator Fran Pavley of 23rd district congratulated Tripathi for her service and stated, “Your spirit and commitment to education have set an example for all to follow.â€

During her successful career in computer technology, Ms. Tripathi realized that a solid foundation in math and reading is needed for students to excel in school and prepare for future. She gave up her career in technology and in 1995 opened an after-school learning center in Encino, California with a mission to help children strengthen their math and reading skills.

“As director of the center, your dedication has improved the learning skills and self confidence of more than a thousand students in the past fifteen years. With your direct and personable style the majority of your students are performing above their grade level,†added Senator Pavley.

On Saturday, December 11, 2010, Encino Kumon Learning Center proudly celebrated 15th Annual Award Ceremony to recognize achievements of students. Students received various awards celebrating their milestones in the Kumon math and reading program.

California Assembly Member Bob Blumenfield of 40th district also congratulated Clara for her 15 years of service as a dedicated teacher and director. “Your tireless work to prepare students with solid math and reading foundations is greatly admired and appreciated. For all that you have done for our students and community, I thank you,†stated Blumenfield.

Parents were also recognized by the director for their support and commitment. Rick Rollins shared his rationale for enrolling his daughters, Aliyah and Marlynn, at Encino Kumon. “To prepare children to compete globally, they need to have solid foundation in math and reading,†explained Rollins. He emphasized importance of daily practice and added, “I am a firm believer of the Kumon program.â€
