LA Dodgers to conduct sixth annual “Star Wars” night tonight

The Los Angeles Dodgers will conduct their sixth annual “Star Wars” Night tonight as they begin a three-game series against
the Milwaukee Brewers at Dodger Stadium.

R2D2 will be among fans in the right field pavilion, right field pavilion plaza and left field pavilion plaza beginning at 5 p.m. Darth Vader will throw the ceremonial first pitch. A “Star Wars” themed fireworks show will follow the game, but will be canceled if the game runs too long.

The Dodgers offered a special “Star Wars” ticket package in the right field pavilion including an exclusive “Star Wars” T-shirt. The package is sold out.

Other pregame festivities include Al Downing, who allowed Hank Aaron’s record-setting 715th home run in 1974, signing autographs in the right field pavilion plaza from 5-7 p.m., the same time as Tim Leary, a pitcher on the Dodgers’ 1988 World Series championship team, will be signing autographs in the left field pavilion; and new Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott throwing the honorary first pitch.

Downing and Leary will also be signing autographs in the Stadium Club from 7-7:30 p.m.

A special extreme loaded bratwurst, topped with sauerkraut and spicy brown mustard, will be available at extreme loaded dog concession stands on the field, loge and reserve levels throughout the series.

U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Jonathan Chang of Pacific Palisades will be honored as the Veteran of the Game. Chang completed Officer Candidates School in 2008, was commissioned as a second lieutenant and went on to become an artillery officer.

Chang is a company commander with the Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, and is responsible for the training, welfare and unit readiness of more than 100 Marines.

Chang served in Marjah in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province. His accolades include a Combat Action Ribbon, Afghan Campaign Medal and Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguished Service.

All auto gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and all stadium gates at 5 p.m. for the 7:10 p.m. game.
