LA Phil to perform ‘E.T.’ live score during movie screening at Hollywood Bowl
The LA Phil will preform John Williams’ score from “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” live with complete film in this milestone concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
The Los Angeles Philharmonic will perform John Williams’ entire Academy Award®-winning score from “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” live-to-picture at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4 and 5, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 pm.
Following a special introduction by John Williams, the Academy Award®-winning film will be shown in HD on the Bowl’s big screen as conductor David Newman leads the orchestra.
While the music of Williams has been a staple of past Hollywood Bowl seasons, the LA Phil has never performed a full film score by the esteemed film composer. This milestone concert will mark the first time that an orchestra has played the “E.T.”score live-to-picture for a public audience, as well as the first time the public can witness a Steven Spielberg-directed movie in its entirety with live orchestral accompaniment.
The concert is produced by Film Concerts Live!, which recently signed a worldwide deal with Universal Pictures to present “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” at major concert venues – with symphony orchestras performing John Williams’ unforgettable score live in sync with the film. The LA Phil will give the world premiere of FCL’s production of “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”– in Concert.
Director Steven Spielberg’s heartwarming masterpiece is one of the most beloved films in motion picture history. Filled with unparalleled magic and imagination, “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” follows the moving story of a lost little alien who befriends a 10-year-old boy named Elliott while searching for a way to return to his home planet, three-million light years away.
