An annual chef showcase and summer tasting soiree held by GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) at LA’s Hancock Park on July 20 turned into a marriage equality summer celebration in the wake of Prop 8’s final defeat. Hundreds turned out, despite a few rain drops, to rub elbows with celebs and indulge in tasty treats from LA’s best culinary offerings.
Culinary highlights included yummy watermelon and Thai pork belly ceviche from Michael’s of Santa Monica, fresh-pressed juice chasers with names like Charge and Drop made from lemon, cucumber, cilantro, and habanero by Press Brothers Juicery, followed by sweet works of art Charm City Cakes treats by Ace of Cakes’ Chef Duff Goldman and to-die-for raspberry fruit and macadamia nut cookies from Milk Jar Cookies.
Other delectable tasting dishes were provided by Momed of Beverly Hills, Hamasaku (Exec. Chef Wonny Lee, Head Sushi Chef Yoya Takahashi), Taste on Melrose, and Tortilla Republic.
