Leaving Your Comfort Zone for Better

One of the best indicators that you may be moving beyond your comfort zone is when you think about something you want to do or achieve and your first reaction is… NO WAY, JOSE! Most people want to make changes in their lives or career, but they do not know where to start to work toward these goals.

If you want to make effective changes in your life, ask yourself, am I ready to get out of my comfort zone? If the answer is yes, I can tell you that your willingness to step out of that comfort zone is the first step toward the completion of your goals.

Unfortunately, for those who have problems getting outside of their comfort zone, success will always be seen as a far away road. If you are one of those people, let me tell you that success is right outside of that comfort zone.

Knowing the limits of your comfort zone is the first step in understanding and dealing with the resistance to changes. When asked to perform a new task or when trying to accomplish personal goals is very common to feel intimidated by the unknown and to react with a certain level of resistance and anxiety. These are very normal human being reactions. The importance here is for you to learn how to manage that anxiety and do whatever it takes to “push†yourself out of that comfort zone.

Next time you feel anxious, inadequate or uncomfortable when trying to accomplish a task or achieving a personal goal, try these “pushing myself out of my comfort zone†techniques and you will see the difference in your life:

• Open your mind to new experiences.
• Divide your goals into small tasks.
• Find a mentor who can help you navigate through those intimidating moments without giving up.
• Do your best and always try to learn something new from each life experience.
• Accept and acknowledge your fears, but do not let yourself get trapped in their paws.

Apply these techniques to your daily routine or create your own set of “rules†will help you to open yourself to new experiences and deal with challenges in a positive and effective way. At the same time, it will assist you in achieving your most desired goals in order to have a better career and life.

Remember, “a dream is your creative vision for your life in the future. At some point, you must break out of your current comfort zone and become comfortable with the unfamiliar and the unknown.†~Denis Waitley~
