Lummis Day Foundation and Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock Present The Acclaimed Film “When Worlds Collide:  The Untold Story of the Americas After Columbusâ€

“When Worlds Collide: The Untold Story of the Americas after Columbus† will be introduced by its co-writer and host, award-winning author and journalist Rubén Martinez.
The event, which will also features a the screening of excerpts from Sergei Eisenstein’s silent classic “Que Viva Mexico!†footage with a “live†accompaniment by pianist Michael Feldman, is presented at the Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock (CAER), 2225 Colorado Boulevard, Los Angeles, by the Lummis Day Community Foundation with the generous support of its co-presenter, CAER. Tickets for the event are $15 and may be purchased via Paypal at www.LummisDay.org, at the door or at local businesses,

“When Worlds Collide: The Untold Story of the Americas After Columbus†examines what happened in the Americas in the first century after Columbus encountered the New World when two worlds that for thousands of years had developed completely independent of one another suddenly came into contact. The film was directed by Carl Byker and written by Byker and Rubén Martinez,produced by KCET and Red Hill Productions and originally aired on the PBS.

The 6th Annual Lummis Day: The Festival of Northeast Los Angeles will be presented on Sunday, June 5 by the Lummis Day Community Foundation and sponsors including the neighborhood councils of Northeast Los Angeles, the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts.

Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to provide innovative and multicultural arts programming to the communities of Northeast Los Angeles.
