Mental Fitness, Inc. (www.mentalfitnessinc.org) a national nonprofit charity, has launched its What is Beautiful video project in honor of National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. This project will feature various people answering three very important questions: What is Beautiful, What is Inner Beauty, and What is Happiness.
Everywhere we look, we see images in the media portraying what they believe is beautiful and images that have been photoshopped to make someone look “flawless”. We are then made to buy into this thought of what we see is what is hot, sexy, and beautiful which in turn leads us to dangerous habits of overtraining, malnutrition, and plastic surgery to fit into these standards.
We at Mental Fitness, Inc. not only wants to change this, but feel like this must be changed. Beauty is so much more holistic, multifaceted, individualized, and self-cultivated. We are all beautiful in our own unique way and want to celebrate owning who you are and loving yourself for the person you are. We need to break out of this cookie cutter image and embrace the life and qualities we are given.
The What is Beautiful project trailer (above) features Wesam Keesh (MTV’s Awkward), Mahaley Manning (MTV’s Awkward and the movie, The Duff) Cindy Miguens (makeup artist on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars), Tara Platt (voice actress for dozens of anime, animation, and video games), and others. And then on Monday February 23rd, we will be releasing at least one full clip a day.
