Los Angeles City Councilmembers Tom LaBonge and Bill Rosendahl presented the certificate to Nadel Architects Founder/President Herb Nadel, FAIA, and Nadel Executive VP/Project Director Greg Serrao, AIA, on Oct. 25. The principals gathered to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the LAX Gateway Expansion Project.
The pylon design consists of 15, 110-foot-high glass pylons, each with an illuminated core that is programmed to change colors within the course of an hour, fading from blue to pink to green to gold. A set of 32-foot-high letters that signify the entrance to LAX are preceded by another progression of pylons ranging from 25 feet in height to 60 feet, along Century Boulevard.
