PAWS/LA, a Los Angeles-based non-profit with more than 25 years of experience helping low-income seniors and those living with a life-threatening or chronic illness by providing essential animal care services, today announced that it would unleash its annual family and dog-friendly festival in the heart of West Hollywood, California. The festival, known as PAWSAPALOOZA, will begin at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8 in West Hollywood Park and will feature a morning dog walk followed by a myriad of activities for the entire family to enjoy. All pet lovers in Los Angeles County are encouraged to attend this free event.
The walk kicks off at 10 a.m. with opening remarks by Honorary Event Chair, KTLA personality Wendy Burch, accompanied by her canine companion, Sophy. Later in the day, there will be a search and rescue demonstration performed by the Los Angeles County Fire Search and Rescue Dog team, which recently returned from serving in Nepal following that country’s devastating earthquake. The festival will also include agility and frisbee demonstrations by Disc Dogs in Southern California and West Los Angeles Obedience Training Club .
At noon there will be a costume contest with prizes and celebrity judges. Categories include Day at the Beach, Night on the Town, Doggie Doppelganger (lookalike), and Grand Prize.
Additionally, there will be booths presenting dog-friendly products and services, free giveaways, and a selection of food trucks serving up a variety of food, drinks, snacks, and goodies. Plus, there will be fun activities for kids, including face painting and balloon artists.
This year’s PAWSAPALOOZA is co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood. Other event sponsor include AIDS Healthcare Foundation, YELP, and Just Food for Dogs.
Attendees are encouraged to bring your dog (on a leash of course).
